Here's the thing. Growing up, we ate what we were served. Most of the time, it was delicious. My mother is an amazing cook. We had some pretty gourmet things. And sometimes - we had lima beans.
The thing about those pesky veggies is that the longer they sit, the worse they get. My mother was constantly telling me, "Just eat them! First thing! Take 'em down!" I never listened. And sure enough, by the time I got to them, they had dried out into little green pebbles, even worse than before.
I learned something from this - eating your lima beans first can be directly applied to my everyday life at work. There are always things that I don't want to do, but I know the longer I let them sit, the harder they'll be, and the worse they will get. I like to work. I like to be a part of all larger aspects of my jobs, even if they aren't great tasks, I know that I need to do them, and do them right, and not leave anything to sit.
Listen to your mother. She knows what she's talking about.
